Pierre Poilievre

 

Pierre Poilievre has earned the privilege of serving the people of Carleton over the last 13 years as their Member of Parliament.   He was first elected in the 38th General Election in 2004.  He was successful again  in 2006, 2008 and 2011 in the riding of Nepean-Carleton and in 2015 in the new electoral district of Carleton.  He is currently the only Conservative Member of Parliament from the Ottawa region.

Prior to the last election, Poilievre served as Minister of Employment and Social Development—the largest department in the federal government—where he oversaw the successful rollout of the increased Universal Child Care Benefit.

As Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury Board President (2006-2008), he helped manage the Federal Accountability Act through the House of Commons.  As Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister (2008-2011), he was the caucus lead on the 2011 election platform of the Conservative Party of Canada.  He pushed for spending reductions and less red tape for small businesses.

Pierre is a proud member of the Carleton community and active on numerous local issues.  As your MP, Pierre is either on Parliament Hill or in the riding meeting with constituents or participating in community events.  Don’t hesitate to say hello the next time your see Pierre.
